This 28 year old woman presented to my office interested in breast augmentation.  She had always been unhappy with her breasts, as she had a significant discrepancy in volume and appearance.  During our initial exam, I noted she had a constricted breast deformity with minimal volume on the right side, and more breast tissue on the left with droop and a large areola.  With such a significant asymmetry, we had to proceed with more of a reconstructive plan rather than just a “cosmetic” augmentation.  We agreed on a staged approach.  With the first operation, I performed a 250 cc saline breast augmentation on the right side in-order to expand the skin envelope and improve symmetry.  On the left, an anchor incision mastopexy was performed to lift the breast and reduce the size of the areola.  The second stage of surgery was to remove the saline breast implant and place textured silicone implants on both sides.  She now is extremely happy with the improvement in overall symmetry and breasts which are more proportionate with her body.
