This 35 year old mother of three from the Grand Prairie region of Texas visited my Southlake plastic surgery office interested in a Mommy Makeover procedure. She was considering both a breast lift to achieve more youthful and perky breasts, and a tummy tuck to address the excess lax skin left from childbearing. She had not been able to attain the figure she desired despite 45 minutes of cardio exercise daily.

During our consultation, I noticed that she had marked skin laxity and stretch marks confined mostly to her lower abdomen, and significant fullness along her flanks that gave a heavy appearance. We discussed her options including an anchor incision breast lift as well as liposuction of the flanks combined with a tummy tuck. After considering her goals and focusing on the procedures that would make her the happiest, we decided to proceed with the tummy tuck and flank liposuction. (She may give consideration to the breast surgery at a later date.)

The operation proceeded very smoothly and took just under 3.5 hours to complete. I started with the flank liposuction, and hid the access incision along the upper edge of her tattoo. 450cc of fat were removed from each side which significantly helped contour her waistline. I then performed the abdominoplasty, where I found she had 5cm of laxity between her rectus muscles. I corrected this laxity and tightened the abdominal wall for a total of 8cm to help flatten her stomach. She had a quite a lot of skin laxity, and a total of 890gm of skin and fat were removed.

Her recovery was rather routine and she is back to normal activities. She still feels tired after a full days work or shopping with the children, so she has not yet resumed her exercise routine. Photos were taken 7 weeks after surgery, and she is still not standing straight due to the tightness of her abdominal wall. (As she is able to stand straighter, her stomach will even become flatter.)
