Facial implants are used for a variety of reasons. In younger patients, they may be used to bring certain features into balance with the rest of the face. In older patients, they may be utilized to restore a more youthful contour to the face, especially in conjunction with a face lift. Dr. Michael Bogdan specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery of the face. He can use chin and cheek facial implants at his Dallas-Fort Worth practice to improve and enhance your facial features, and make you feel better about your appearance.

A variety of facial implants are available in an array of sizes, shapes, and materials. During your consultation, Dr. Bogdan will work with you to determine precisely which implants will work to achieve your desired results. Dr. Bogdan is one of the few Dallas plastic surgeons who utilize 3 dimensional computer imaging to help you in designing your facial plastic surgery procedure.
When choosing a chin or cheek implant, many people also choose to have other facial cosmetic surgery procedures performed to achieve a more comprehensive makeover. Rhinoplasty is a popular option, as well as other procedures like forehead lift, face lift and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty).
Cheek implants are placed with a quick outpatient procedure, performed under light general anesthesia. Unless it is being done in conjunction with another cosmetic surgery procedure, the cheek implant is inserted through an incision located inside the upper lip. A pocket is formed, and the implant is inserted and properly placed before the incision is closed with sutures. Cool compresses are applied to the operative sites to minimize discomfort and swelling. The entire procedure, when performed alone, takes from 30 to 45 minutes.
The chin implant is placed in a pocket over the front of the jawbone, through an incision either inside the lower lip or in the skin just under the chin. Once the implant is placed and adjusted, the incision is closed with sutures. The outpatient procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. Usually, the chin is taped after surgery to minimize swelling and discomfort. Sutures in the skin will be removed in 5 to 7 days.
