Breast Lift Surgical Options
When you are learning about breast lift operations, you will notice some leave a scar only around the areola (periareolar breast lift, or donut mastopexy), others have a scar that also runs down to the breast fold (vertical scar breast lift, or lollipop mastopexy), and finally some have an additional scar that runs along the inframammary fold (anchor incision mastopexy). It is natural to desire the shortest scar possible, and some patients find it difficult to understand why longer scar operations may be more beneficial. I made this small video to help clarify the operations and hopefully provide a better understanding of the indications for specific procedures. The video animates the operations with simple stick-figures, and then morphs before and after photos of some actual breast lift patients.
