These days, it seems like we all know of someone who has had a “nose job.” Whether you live in Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, or Grapevine, rhinoplasty is perennially popular. When celebrities get a nose job, it usually makes headlines in the tabloids. That is because even subtle changes in the shape of the nose can dramatically enhance a person’s appearance.
If you’re looking in Texas for a rhinoplasty surgeon, we have two of the most skilled specialists right here at 2301 Plastic Surgery. Dr. Bogdan is a member of the elite Rhinoplasty Society, and Dr. Cason completed an additional year of training in aesthetic surgery at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, where he fine-tuned his rhinoplasty skills under the top plastic surgeons in the country.

As the nose is one of the most prominent features of the face, it has a significant influence on our overall appearance. If you are unhappy with your nose, it may affect you every time you look in the mirror. Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is a relatively common plastic surgery procedure and one of the oldest. In fact, modern cosmetic rhinoplasty has been around for over 100 years.
Dr. Bogdan and Dr. Cason bring the benefit of extensive training by the world’s leading experts in the area of modern rhinoplasty procedures. They are among the select few plastic surgeons in the country who have undergone formal post-residency training in aesthetic surgery. Dr. Bogdan completed a highly sought-after fellowship at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, and Dr. Cason completed the prestigious aesthetic surgery fellowship at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. During their respective fellowships, they trained with some of the leaders in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery and acquired advanced techniques that they use for every facial plastic surgery procedure they perform.
Women and men often choose this procedure for any combination of the following improvements:
To help you decide exactly what changes you would like to make, Dr. Michael A. Bogdan and Dr. Roger Cason like to utilize 3D computer imaging to allow you to visualize potential outcomes. Our practice uses Canfield Scientific’s VECTRA M3 imager and Face Sculptor software to assist during your consultation at our Grapevine office.
Depending on your anatomy and the desired changes, the operation can be performed using the closed or open technique.
This technique involves a small incision placed along the base of the nose between the nostrils. Our surgeons use the open technique when they need unobstructed access to the inner structures of the nose and optimal control during the surgery, such as when performing procedures that require significant tip support or correction of a major deviation.
This technique is performed through incisions placed within the nostrils. Dr. Bogdan and Dr. Cason prefer the closed approach for most patients because it leaves no visible scars. While experiences vary, recovery is typically quicker with closed rhinoplasty.

Most nose surgery patients choose to be put under general anesthesia. It is normally not necessary to be intubated for the procedure, as a soft cushion airway is generally sufficient. The procedure can take from 1 to 4 hours, with the closed approach taking less time than open procedures.
Many rhinoplasty patients also choose to have other facial cosmetic surgery or nonsurgical procedures performed to achieve a more comprehensive makeover. These procedures may include:
Recovery after rhinoplasty varies with the specifics of the surgery and individual patient factors. Common considerations include:
The typical age range for our rhinoplasty patients is the 20s to 30s. Teens can have rhinoplasty once the nose has finished developing, which is typically around age 15 to 16 for girls and 17 to 18 for boys.
While discomfort is common after rhinoplasty, it is commonly due to nasal congestion caused by swelling inside the nose. Most patients do not experience any significant pain. It takes about 2 to 4 weeks for swelling to dissipate.
The shape of the nose can be slightly enhanced with a “liquid rhinoplasty” that involves dermal filler injections beneath the skin of the nose. The results are temporary and more subtle than with surgery.
When performed by a plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty, the surgery is considered safe. Dr. Bogdan and Dr. Cason are unique in that both have completed additional fellowship training in aesthetic surgery of the face. Since the nose is such a central part of a person’s face and appearance, it should only be operated on by a plastic surgeon with dedicated training in rhinoplasty. Our DFW plastic surgeons share a passion for the complex art of rhinoplasty.
Within 2 to 4 weeks, swelling should become almost unnoticeable, but subtle changes in the appearance of the nose will continue over the course of a year.
Rhinoplasty results last indefinitely as long as there is no trauma to the nose. The aging process doesn’t typically have a significant effect on the nose.
